PRODUCTION SCHEDULE OVERVIEW

Week 2 - Cut down animatic into a shorter version. Latest character development.
Week 3 - Finish all characters
Week 4 - Finish all backgrounds
Week 5 - Animate 20%
Week 6 - Animate 40%
Week 7 - Animate 60%
Week 8 - Animate 80%
Week 9 - Animate 100% (Finish main animation)
Week 10 - Add Audio/Score
Week 11-13 - Title sequence, fine tune animation, add effects, tweak audio.

    I think we should take out the reading of your poem altogether. The United "Dragon" piece tells an entire, epic adventure in the span of one minute, without any dialogue or voice-over. I want you to analyze this piece for all it's worth and really understand how it's able to tell a story with such dramatic arc in 60 seconds. Think of how they set up the initial dynamic between father and son, with an economy of gesture/animation. How do they set up the tension, momentum for the climactic scene with the dragon? And finally, how do they end this piece? The transition from one realm to another is handled brilliantly. Digest these ideas. I'm going to help you restructure your narrative to be this compact, yet more dramatic than what you had in the endless 4 min version. We will discuss in detail in class, but until then, I want you to ponder these issues...
